Travel in Costa Rica

Geography

Costa Rica is a country with a great tourist potential and is ranked as one of the most visited international destinations. It is for this reason that tourism ranks as one of the most important sources of income for the country.

 

Although the country is small and covers only 0.03% of the planet's surface, it is privileged to host the habitat of 5% of the existing biodiversity in the world, while 25.58% of its territory is protected under various forms of conservation.

Geography

Costa Rica has highlands with an altitude of 1000-2000 meters above sea level. For example the Guanacaste Mountain Range, Central Mountain Range, and Talamanca Mountain Range are the main mountain ranges

 

The country has many volcanoes like Arenal, Irazú Volcano, Rincón de la Vieja, and Turrialba, also the highest mountain Cerro Chírripo rises 3,819 m above sea level. Furthermore, it has coasts on both oceans, the Atlantic and the Pacific, with beautiful beaches as well as a number of rivers that attract specialist kayakers and rafters from around the world.

Weather

The weather in Costa Rica is very pleasant not only during the dry season, from December to April, but also during the rainy season, from May to November.

 

The climate is tropical and the average temperature is 22 º C (72 º F) which increases in coastal areas. Temperature changes are constant, especially if you travel to different parts of the country.
